POWER OVER ETHERNET (POE)

Power over Ethernet (PoE) simplifies your network setup by delivering both data and power through a single Ethernet cable, reducing installation complexity and eliminating the need for separate power supplies. At Giganet, we provide a variety of PoE solutions that offer scalability, cost savings, and reliability for modern network infrastructures.

Key PoE Configurations

Giganet offers several configurations to suit diverse network requirements:

  • PoE Switch → PoE Device: Powers and connects PoE-compatible devices (IP cameras, VoIP phones).

  • Non-PoE Switch + PoE Injector → PoE Device: Adds power to the data signal, enabling PoE on non-PoE switches.

  • PoE Switch + PoE Splitter → Non-PoE Device: Separates power and data to power non-PoE devices.

  • Non-PoE Switch + PoE Injector + PoE Splitter → Non-PoE Device: Allows non-PoE devices to operate through a combination of injectors and splitters.

  • High-Power Devices: For devices like PTZ cameras or high-performance access control panels that require additional power, PoE+ or PoE++ injectors can provide the necessary power.

PoE Standards & Power Levels
  • PoE (802.3af): Delivers up to 15.4W.

  • PoE+ (802.3at): Delivers up to 30W.

  • PoE++ (802.3bt): Offers up to 60W (Type 3) or 90W (Type 4).

Key Considerations
  • Cable Quality: Use Cat5e or higher for optimal performance.

  • Max Distance: Each Ethernet segment can extend up to 100m (328ft).

  • Power Budget: Ensure the power source meets the needs of your connected devices.

Benefits of Giganet PoE Solutions
  • Simplified Installations: Fewer cables and no need for separate power outlets.

  • Cost-Effective: Reduces electrical infrastructure and wiring costs.

  • Scalability: Easily expand networks without additional power sources.

PoE for Smart Networks

Giganet’s PoE technology is ideal for powering smart building systems, advanced security devices, wireless access points, and much more. With PoE, you can future-proof your infrastructure while optimizing installation costs and operational efficiency.
